Mission Report One

Mission Report One

There being no previous transmissions from Omikron Base, I have no standard format for said transmissions.  I will attempt to avoid confusion.

It has been nearly two years since I have crash-landed here, in the vicinity of the large city of Chicagou.*  I have spent that time wisely, carefully gathering information about the area and uploading it to my sophisticated alien storage devices.  I have adopted a number of different identities to learn more about this new home, and have worked at more jobs than the human mind could begin to comprehend.

I'll admit, at times it's been hairy.  We've suffered through evacuations, vortices-even Mitch McConnell.  But Omikron Base is ready for visitors, and in preparation I prepare this guide.  As you'll see, the majority of the information will focus on what I have been able to collect, in preparation for your arrival.

Once you arrive, you will be forced to visit one of the cities libraries in order to get acquainted with local rules and customs.  Remember, each library is different, and once you commit to a library, you commit for life-so choose wisely!  Once you and your library have chosen one another, the bond is unshakeable even after death.

If you ever get lost, remember that you cannot walk any further east than The Lake Michigan.  A classic mistake many first-timers make will be to accidentally be fifteen to twenty miles south of The Loop, and walk east from there, passing south of The Lake Michigan.  This is likely the only way one could find this bit of the orientation confusing.

If the transmissions get too long, they increase the likelihood that they will be spotted.  I'll wrap this one up now.  Useful information to follow will include information on local flora and fauna, geographical orientation and transport, as well as the best places for us to locate various aspects of the large-scale base we will need to construct.

*When our first scouts visited the area, apparently this was the spelling used by the natives-over the years, this has morphed into "Chicago," although we refer to it in it's original name so as not to confuse any astronavigators.
